Offerings
Wednesday – Annual Conference Operating Expenses
For more than 235 years, Annual Conference has offered the intergenerational body of Christ known as the Church of the Brethren an opportunity to gather for worship and praise, for prayerful dialog and discernment, to learn and grow, to renew old friendships and build new relationships. Your generous gifts will help support the ministry of Annual Conference as it seeks to fulfill its mission to unite, strengthen, and equip the Church of the Brethren to follow Jesus.

Thursday – Church of the Brethren CORE MINISTRIES
Core Ministry Office highlighted: Intercultural Ministries and Youth and Young Adult Ministries
Intercultural Ministries and Youth and Young Adult Ministries are part of the Discipleship and Leadership Formation office. Both ministries strive to “developing a culture of calling and equipping disciples who are innovative, adaptable, and fearless.” The mission of Intercultural Ministries is to “enrich and strengthen the Church of the Brethren by our unity as people across cultures, modeling for the larger church the blessings of being one as God’s people.” Youth and Young Adult Ministries nurtures the faith of and develops leaders among the next generation, encouraging them to bear witness to the peace of Christ.

Friday – Witness to the Host City: Backpack Beginnings
Backpack Beginnings serves over 25,000 children annually in the Greensboro area, connecting these children and their families with the resources they need to thrive. Backpack Beginnings distributes basic necessities to children via 183 Community Partners (schools, Head Starts, pediatricians’ offices, non-profits, churches, and the Housing Authority) and through their Family Market. The BPB Family Market is a dignity of choice, “one-stop” shopping experience where parents and children select their basic needs at no cost in a retail-like, welcoming environment. Families have access to expanded food choices such as frozen foods, fresh produce, and dairy items as well as resources such as hygiene products, children’s clothing, diapers, baby accessories, school supplies, and even childhood joys such as toys, books, and sports equipment! Their newest program, Beyond the Basics (BTB), is a no-cost coaching program designed for Family Market guests who are eager to set and achieve goals that will positively impact their families. BTB offers personalized coaching, referrals and case management to support each participant’s journey. To learn more about the work of BPB, please visit backpackbeginnings.org.

Saturday – Expanding Full Participation at Annual Conference
One of the things that makes our denominational gathering unique is that participation is not limited to delegates and/or clergy. Annual Conference is an embodiment of the priesthood of all believers and the gathered body is stronger and more beautiful, when it reflects the richness of our diversity and when full participation is not impeded or challenged by barriers—whether those barriers are related to language, ability, geographic distance, or cost. Your gifts will help offset expenses related to extending Christlike welcome and hospitality so all can participate fully in Annual Conference.

Sunday – Church of the Brethren CORE MINISTRIES
Core Ministry Office highlighted: Global Mission
The Global Mission office integrates faith and service, challenging and equipping Brethren to respond to human need and grow the church of Jesus Christ throughout the world. The office works with a global Church of the Brethren consisting of autonomous groups that witness to their broader communities while mutually encouraging one another as branches from the denomination vine. Priorities include theological training for pastors, building churches, in-person gatherings with our global Church of the Brethren communion, and discipling church leadership with integrity. The Church of the Brethren is growing around the world—sharing the gospel, serving the poor, and speaking peace in the face of a violent world.
