The January/February 2025 issue of Messenger includes articles on 500 years of anabaptism and the story of Conrad Beissel at Ephrata.
Brethren Historical Library and Archives staff curated a related playlist of music for the new year in the spirit of Conrad Beissel, an early German-American colonial spiritualist. Beissel developed a new system of musical composition notable for disjointed rhythms and atonal style. Beissel’s a cappella was akin to today’s DIY indie genre.
