Getting started – comprehensive resources

Sun shining on meadow

There are many excellent resources available, but we will highlight three resources that cover many aspects of creation care and focus on a faith based approach. Two are interfaith initiatives and one is a Mennonite organization. These three resources provide some overlapping information, so you may choose the best fit for your congregation.

Most importantly, all three of these resources provide approaches for comprehensive planning and assessment to help your church and make an effective plan for the future.

Mennonite Creation Care Network: A Network Caring for God’s Creation

Brethren have many common values with the Mennonites. This website addresses creation care from a holistic perspective, with the opportunity to assess and improve in a variety of areas ranging from congregational vision and worship resources, to ecojustice and energy audits.

Interfaith Power & Light: A Religious Response to Global Warming

The mission of Interfaith Power & Light is to be faithful stewards of Creation by responding to global warming through the promotion of energy conservation, energy efficiency, and renewable energy. Their website contains a wealth of resources, from example sermons to practical suggestions for facility management. Be sure to find your state IPL for local resources.

Blessed Tomorrow: Caring for Creation Today

Blessed Tomorrow is a coalition of diverse religious partners working together to inspire communities to act on climate change and creation care. There are both “Tools to Make an Impact” that include options for direct action, and “Resources to Inspire Others” for ways to help others recognize the importance of addressing climate change as an expression of faith.
