Youth
- What will I be doing at NYC?
- Every day at NYC there are two worship services, workshops, recreation time, service projects, hiking, small groups, late evening activities, and so much more! It will be a week full of fun, fellowship, and making new friends.
- Who will my roommate be?
- During registration, you will have the opportunity to input a roommate request. We do our best to match preferences.
- What will housing look like?
- General NYC 2026 housing is non-airconditioned; however, because the YMCA is at an altitude of just over 8,000 feet, even summer nights are cool. Accessible rooms are available. The typical room configuration for our event is a queen bed and two sets of sets of bunk beds. Each room includes a private bathroom. There will typically be 5 youth to a room. There will typically be 3 advisors to a room. If a participant has special housing needs, please note it on the registration form and/or contact the NYC Office.
- Who will be in my small group?
- You will be placed in a small group with youth from all over the country. Small groups can be the place where you make new friends and meet new people!
- Do we have to sign up for workshops before we get to NYC?
- You will be able to choose which workshop you want to attend when you arrive to campus. There are no sign ups for workshops, you just attend!
- Is there an extra cost to go hiking and do service projects?
- No, these memorable parts of NYC are included in registration! When you register, you will choose if you want to go hiking and participate in a service project.
- What should I pack for NYC?
- You should pack a Bible, a journal and pen, money and/or items for offerings, toiletries, sunscreen, a reusable water bottle, comfortable clothes and shoes, and a jacket or sweatshirt. Bed linens, pillows, a blanket, and shower towels will be provided.
Advisors and Parents
- I have a youth who is going to be finished 8th grade and entering 9th grade by the time NYC starts. Can they attend?
- The age requirement for NYC is that youth have completed 9th grade through one year of college or are age equivalent. If you have a special situation and would like to request an age exception, please contact Becky Ullom Naugle.
- My spouse and I are both going to be chaperones, can we room in the same room?
- No.
- Our church only has one youth who wants to go but no one can go as their advisor. What should we do?
- You can reach out to churches in your area and your district office to see if there is a possibility that your youth may go with another youth group. Please contact the NYC staff if you are having a hard time finding another youth group to go with.
- I am 21 years old and want to serve as an advisor for my youth group. Is this allowed?
- The policy for advisors is that they be a minimum of 22 years old at the time of NYC.
- What is the youth/adult ratio at NYC?
- The youth to adult ratio is for every five youth, there must be one advisor from each church.
- Will there be transportation provided from the Denver Airport to the YMCA?
- There will not be NYC specific transportation provided from DIA to the YMCA. Instead, a shuttle service can be used- we recommend booking with Estes Park Shuttle. As of January 2026, a round trip from DIA to the YMCA is $155 per person.
- Will my child need money during the week of NYC?
- There will be more than one offering throughout the week, but not all are monetary. Information will be provided at a later date on what physical items to bring for non-monetary offerings. There will also likely be an NYC bookstore and gift shop where various items will be available for purchase.
- What happens if my child gets sick at NYC?
- NYC is able to provide first aid on-site. If a participant needs more significant medical attention, staff will see that the participant has access to medical care. The town of Estes Park offers urgent care, as well as an emergency room and a hospital.
- What should we expect to pack for NYC?
- You should pack a Bible, a journal and pen, money and/or items for offerings, toiletries, sunscreen, a reusable water bottle, comfortable clothes and shoes, and a jacket or sweatshirt. Bed linens, pillows, a blanket, and shower towels will be provided.
- How are you keeping NYC participants safe?
- NYC has safety procedures and standards in place that are designed to keep all participants safe, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, ability, role, or race. These procedures can be found at https://www.brethren.org/nyc/participants/keeping-youth-safe/
