Youth

  • What will I be doing at NYC?
    • Every day at NYC there are two worship services, workshops, recreation time, service projects, hiking, small groups, late evening activities, and so much more! It will be a week full of fun, fellowship, and making new friends.
  • Who will my roommate be?
    • During registration, you will have the opportunity to input a roommate request. We do our best to match preferences.
  • Who will be in my small group?
    • You will be placed in a small group with youth from all over the country. Small groups can be the place where you make new friends and meet new people!
  • Do we have to sign up for workshops before we get to NYC?
    • You will be able to choose which workshop you want to attend when you arrive to campus. There are no sign ups for workshops, you just attend!
  • Is there an extra cost to go hiking and do service projects?
    • No, these memorable parts of NYC are free! When you register, you will choose if you want to go hiking and participate in a service project.
  • What should I pack for NYC?
    • Bed linens, pillows, a blanket, and shower towels will be provided in the dorms. You should pack sunscreen, a Bible, a journal and pen, modest and comfortable clothes and shoes, toiletries, a camera, a reusable water bottle, money and items for offerings, a homemade pillow for worship, and a jacket or sweatshirt.
  • What are your COVID policies?
    • When you sign your NYC covenant, you are agreeing to wear a mask any time you are indoors unless you are eating/drinking, taking a shower, or in your own dorm room. You are also agreeing to adhere to other NYC COVID protocols as outlined by the NYC staff immediately prior to the event, acknowledging that appropriate protocols for COVID cannot be defined until closer to July 2022.

Advisors and Parents

  • I have a youth who is going to be finished 8th grade and entering 9th grade by the time NYC starts. Can they attend?
    • The age requirement for NYC is that youth have completed 9th grade through one year of college or are age equivalent. If you have a special situation and would like to request an age exception, please contact Becky Ullom Naugle.
  • My spouse and I are both going to be chaperones, can we room in the same room?
    • No.
  • Our church only has one youth who wants to go but no one can go as their advisor. What should we do?
    • You can reach out to churches in your area and your district office to see if there is a possibility that your youth may go with another youth group. All youth attending must have an advisor.
  • I am 21 years old and want to serve as an advisor for my youth group. Is this allowed?
    • The policy for advisors is that they be a minimum of 22 years old at the time of NYC.
  • What is the youth/adult ratio at NYC?
    • The youth to adult ratio is for every five youth, there must be one advisor from each church.
  • Will there be transportation provided from the Denver Airport to CSU?
    • Yes, there is a specific NYC shuttle that runs to and from the airport at a cost per person. Details and information will be available at a later date.
  • Will my child need money during the week of NYC?
    • There will be about five offerings during the week, but not all are monetary – there will be a list of the offerings posted under the “NYC Programming” page. NYC shirts, sweatshirts, etc. and a wrap-up DVD will be available for purchase. There will also be a Brethren Press booth with books and other items for sale. A $40 cash key deposit is required at the time of check in.
  • What happens if my child gets sick at NYC?
    • We have a full medical team on staff for the whole week and they have any medical information listed at the time of registration on record. Anyone who becomes ill during the week is to report to the medical staff.
  • What should we expect to pack for NYC?
