It has been a good week! Amen?\u201d<br \/>\n<em>&#8212; Jeff Carter, as he began his remarks in the morning worship service. The NYCers responded, \u201cAmen!\u201d Telling the story of his experiences training for a marathon, he went on to compare the NYC week with running: \u201cWe have been sprinting all week. The Christian life is not a sprint. It is a marathon. A ministry of the heart, and a ministry of the hand.\u201d<br \/>\n<em>&#8212; Bethany Seminary president Jeff Carter, in the closing message of NYC 2014.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe church is about being heaven here on earth.\u201d<br \/>\n<em>&#8212; Josh Brockway, director of Spiritual Life and Discipleship for the Church of the Brethren, giving a devotional thought during the closing worship. He commented that this concept is found in the Lord\u2019s Prayer, when we pray, \u201cThy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.\u201d Keynote speaker Jarrod McKenna had led the congregation in the Lord\u2019s Prayer the evening before.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large\"><strong>The day\u2019s schedule<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>On this the closing day of NYC 2014, morning worship focused on an appropriate theme: \u201cJourney.\u201d Youth gathered for a final time of worship, singing, prayer, and blessing in the Moby Arena on the CSU campus, led by Bethany Seminary president Jeff Carter. NYC coordinators: Katie Cummings, Tim Heishman, and Sarah Neher. Youth cabinet members: Emmett Eldred of Middle Pennsylvania District, Brittany Fourman of Southern Ohio District, Rhonda Pittman Gingrich of Northern Plains District, Dennis Lohr of Atlantic Northeast District, Sarandon Smith of Atlantic Northeast District, Sarah Ullom-Minnich of Western Plains District, Kerrick van Asselt of Western Plains District, Zander Willoughby of Michigan District.<\/p>\n<p>Preacher Jeff Carter\u2019s \u201cshout out\u201d to the whole NYC congregation came in the form of a closing time of blessing. Youth received NYC bracelets to wear home, and had an opportunity to be blessed each by name, at a number of stations around the arena. \u201cYou were named for a great purpose,\u201d Carter told the youth, \u201ca blessing and a purpose.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A special shout out to Rainer Borgmann, one of the youth attending NYC who was selected by the lighting, sound, and visuals company PSI to run the live video feeds for the big screens in Moby Arena on Wednesday evening.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>NYC 2014 News Team:<\/strong> Cheryl Brumbaugh-Cayford, director of News Services.
