Brethren Volunteer Service (BVS) Unit 297 has completed its orientation and begun work at a number of project sites in the United States, Ireland, and El Salvador. The summer unit held orientation on June 10-29 in Chicago and Elgin, Ill.<\/p>\n

Following are the new BVS volunteers, their home congregations or home towns, and projects sites:<\/p>\n

Amber Buck<\/strong> of Mount Wilson Church of the Brethren in Lebanon, Pa., is working at Comfort House Services Inc. in McAllen, Texas.<\/p>\n

David Hoffmann<\/strong> of Emmendingen, Germany, is serving at Spanish Catholic Charities in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n

Jenna and Chris Horgan<\/strong> of Minneapolis, Minn., are assigned to El Centro Arte para la Paz in Suchitoto, El Salvador.<\/p>\n

Margaret Hughes<\/strong> of Charlottesville, Va., has been assigned to L\u2019Arche Community in Cork, Ireland.<\/p>\n

Jennie Ott<\/strong> of Beacon Heights Church of the Brethren in Fort Wayne, Ind., is working with Camp Myrtlewood in Myrtle Point, Ore.<\/p>\n

Shur\u00e8-Nachelle Parrish<\/strong> of Manchester Church of the Brethren in North Manchester, Ind., will serve at a placement still to be determined.<\/p>\n

Hallie Pilcher<\/strong> of First Church of the Brethren in Roanoke, Va., is volunteering for Brethren Disaster Ministries in New Windsor, Md.<\/p>\n

Two more BVS orientations are planned for this year:<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

— The BVS BRF (Brethren Revival Fellowship) orientation unit<\/strong> is scheduled for Aug. 19-29 at the Brethren Service Center in New Windsor, Md. (the application deadline has passed).<\/p>\n

— The BVS Fall orientation unit<\/strong> is set for Sept. 16-Oct. 5, also at the Brethren Service Center. Applications for the Fall orientation are due by Aug. 3.<\/p>\n
