\u201cHe has told you, O mortal, what is good; <\/em>
and what does the Lord require of you <\/em>
but to do justice <\/em>
and to love kindness <\/em>
and to walk humbly with your God?\u201d<\/em>
\u2014 Micah 6:8<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gracious and Loving God,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On this Juneteenth, we remember the long journey from bondage to freedom. We give thanks for the courage, faith, resilience, and hope of those who endured slavery and those who labored for justice, dignity, and liberation. We remember that delayed freedom wounds the human spirit, and we lament the suffering, injustice, and dehumanization experienced by generations of Your children. Yet we also celebrate the enduring witness of a people who trusted You through hardship, sang songs of hope in the darkest nights, and held fast to the promise that freedom would come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On this day, heal the wounds of racism, prejudice, and division that still linger among us. Transform our hearts so that we may see one another as beloved members of one human family, created in Your image and worthy of dignity, respect, and love. Give strength to all who continue the work of justice. Bless our communities with truth, reconciliation, and peace. Help us build a world where every person can live in freedom, flourish in hope, and fully share in the gifts You have given them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

May the memory of Juneteenth inspire us not only to celebrate the freedom gained but also to commit ourselves anew to the work of securing freedom for all.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Receive our prayer in the name of Jesus Christ, who came to proclaim good news to the poor, release to the captives, and liberty to the oppressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amen.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
