She will provide leadership for both the Communications and Mission Advancement teams of the denominational staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Rhonda Pittman Gingrich<\/strong> will begin a part-time interim leadership role with Brethren Press in addition to her ongoing responsibilities as director of Annual Conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Metzger and Pittman Gingrich will be working in close partnership, particularly where the areas of Communications, Mission Advancement, and Brethren Press intersect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new interim leadership roles follow the retirement announcement of <strong>Wendy McFadden<\/strong>, longterm publisher and executive director of Brethren Press and Communications. McFadden will retire at the end of July but may continue to serve in a consultant role into the early fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Interim executive director of Engagement and Communications<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Madalyn Metzger<\/strong>, who has had a lifelong involvement in the Church of the Brethren, served as moderator of the 2024 Annual Conference. She brings more than two decades of experience in marketing, communications, and organizational leadership, most recently as chief marketing officer at Everence which is a financial services organization related to the Mennonite faith community. Her professional work has centered on helping mission-driven organizations strengthen their voice, deepen relationships, and align communications and engagement to support growth, generosity, and long-term stewardship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the interim appointment, Metzger will listen, learn, and support the work already underway by the Communications and Mission Advancement teams, while also exploring how Church of the Brethren communications, engagement, and advancement efforts can more closely align with the mission of the church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She will work remotely from northern Indiana and be onsite regularly at the General Offices in Elgin, Ill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Interim leadership of Brethren Press<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Rhonda Pittman Gingrich<\/strong> will step into a part-time interim leadership role with Brethren Press in August, in addition to continuing as director of Annual Conference. Brethren Press as a vital ministry of the Church of the Brethren carries out work that spans publishing, curriculum, and broader engagement.
