Michael

On Sunday afternoon, Feb. 1, Northview Church of the Brethren in Indianapolis, Ind., hosted a session on how to peacefully protest the actions of ICE. Mennonite and Friends churches also participated.

There was an overflowing crowd. I’m not sure that anyone counted the number in attendance but on available seating, the number was estimated to be 160 to 170. The parking lot was completely full, so the church had to start shuttling people from a nearby grocery store parking lot. Other people parked on neighborhood streets and climbed over snowbanks to reach the church.

Rhonda Baker, a member of the congregation, was one of the coordinators of the event. Paul Schrock is the church board chair.

WTHR Channel 13 TV and WFYI Public Radio both covered the event.

Find the article “Indy residents gather for food, fellowship, and support for their immigrant neighbors” from WFYI at www.wfyi.org/news/articles/indy-residents-gather-for-food-fellowship-and-support-for-their-immigrant-neighbors

The WTHR video, titled “Indianapolis church hosts discussion regarding concerns over ICE,” is at www.wthr.com/video/news/local/indianapolis-church-hosts-discussion-regarding-concerns-over-ice/531-15855fa4-d787-43e0-bf5b-37650c1ee49c

The WTHR video, titled “Indianapolis church hosts discussion regarding concerns over ICE,” is at www.wthr.com/video/news/local/indianapolis-church-hosts-discussion-regarding-concerns-over-ice/531-15855fa4-d787-43e0-bf5b-37650c1ee49c

———-

Find more Church of the Brethren news:

Brethren Volunteer Service Unit 340 completes orientation

La Unidad 340 del Servicio Voluntario de los Hermanos completa la orientación.

Inite Sèvis Volontè Frè yo 340 fini oryantasyon an

New Pastor’s Manual in Haitian Creole and French to be used in Haiti and Africa

Nuevo manual para pastores en criollo haitiano y francés para ser utilizado en Haití y África.

On Sunday afternoon, Feb. 1, Northview Church of the Brethren in Indianapolis, Ind., hosted a session on how to peacefully protest the actions of ICE.
