Gene Hollenberg has announced his plan to retire as executive director of Camp Alexander Mack in Milford, Ind., at the end of the year. He has served in the position for almost 10 years, since September 2016. He previously gave 40 years of volunteer leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The camp is a ministry of the Indiana Camp Board representing the Church of the Brethren districts of Northern Indiana and South Central Indiana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Accomplishments during his tenure, which the announcement described as \u201ca difficult period\u201d with financial setbacks, the pandemic, and \u201ca shifting culture,\u201d were named as continuing to \u201cwelcome people to this sanctuary, connecting them with God, giving them incredible experiences in God’s creation, and building community based on love and respect for one another.\u201d Tangible accomplishments include facility improvements, new programs, the hiring of a young and talented staff, and new opportunities for growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A statement from the Indiana Camp Board also noted Hollenberg\u2019s steady leadership and lasting contributions to the ministry of Camp Mack including successful completion of a capital campaign, the renovation of Ulrich Lodge, and successful pursuit of multiple grants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
