{"id":26307,"date":"2025-12-17T22:41:31","date_gmt":"2025-12-17T22:41:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/news\/?p=26307"},"modified":"2025-12-17T22:44:28","modified_gmt":"2025-12-17T22:44:28","slug":"cds-responds-in-washington-state","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/news\/2025\/cds-responds-in-washington-state\/","title":{"rendered":"Children\u2019s Disaster Services responds to flooding in western Washington State"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>By Carolyn Neher<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Children\u2019s Disaster Services (CDS), a program of Brethren Disaster Ministries, has deployed to western Washington State following catastrophic atmospheric river flooding that began on Dec. 8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CDS is partnering with Child Life Disaster Relief and Save the Children to serve children in shelters where there is need, providing a calm, safe, and healing environment for children whose lives have been upended by the rising waters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This weather event brought heavy rainfall, causing rivers such as the Skagit, Snohomish, and Nooksack to reach record levels.
