{"id":26193,"date":"2025-11-25T11:20:00","date_gmt":"2025-11-25T11:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/news\/?p=26193"},"modified":"2025-11-25T20:02:35","modified_gmt":"2025-11-25T20:02:35","slug":"cws-kit-program-and-collections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/news\/2025\/cws-kit-program-and-collections\/","title":{"rendered":"Update on Church World Service kit program and collections"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Church World Service (CWS) has announced changes related to its kit program and collections, as the Material Resources program at the Brethren Service Center in New Windsor closes by year\u2019s end. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Material Resources, the longterm Church of the Brethren program to collect, warehouse, and ship disaster relief and other material goods for CWS and other ecumenical partners, is being closed as of the end of 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An announcement from CWS noted the \u201cmore than 65 years of faithful service\u201d of Material Resources. <strong>\u201cChurch World Service is deeply grateful for the generations of volunteers who made this ministry possible.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the ending of Material Resources, also ending is the CWS Kit Depot location and collection at the Church of the Brethren General Offices in Elgin, Ill.
