{"id":25860,"date":"2025-08-28T17:01:10","date_gmt":"2025-08-28T17:01:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/news\/?p=25860"},"modified":"2025-08-28T17:01:59","modified_gmt":"2025-08-28T17:01:59","slug":"mmd-postpones-budget-parameter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/news\/2025\/mmd-postpones-budget-parameter\/","title":{"rendered":"Mission and Ministry Board postpones budget parameter decision, calls executive committee"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Church of the Brethren Mission and Ministry Board met in advance of Annual Conference in Greensboro, N.C., for its summer meeting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Presiding over the meeting on July 2 was chair Colin Scott, assisted by chair-elect Kathy Mack and general secretary David Steele.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The board considered a budget parameter for Core Ministries for 2026 but declined to take action.<\/strong> The chair presented a recommendation from the executive committee to defer action citing the difficulties of financial reporting for 2024 following the data breach that the denominational ministries suffered last December. The time required to both restore the lost data and catch up with financial reporting for the current year has affected the information that is available for 2025 as well. Photo by Cheryl Brumbaugh-Cayford<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A new standing subcommittee of the board was formed under the name \u201cRevelation 7:9 Committee.\u201d <\/strong>A document outlining the position description of the new subcommittee was approved. The subcommittee emerged from the former \u201cSeeking God\u2019s Racial Justice\u201d committee that was part of board strategic planning. The staff liaison will be the Intercultural Ministries director. Board members are yet to be named to this subcommittee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>In other business,<\/strong> the board approved a new HEAR Scholarship Policy (see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/news\/2025\/health-care-education-scholarship\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"www.brethren.org\/news\/2025\/health-care-education-scholarship\">www.brethren.org\/news\/2025\/health-care-education-scholarship<\/a>); celebrated the 2025 Revelation 7:9 Award recipients as presented by Founa Badet of Intercultural Ministries (see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/news\/2025\/revelation-79-awards-are-presented\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"www.brethren.org\/news\/2025\/revelation-79-awards-are-presented\">www.brethren.org\/news\/2025\/revelation-79-awards-are-presented<\/a>); welcomed international guests who attended Annual Conference; and affirmed plan for a Germantown (Pa.)
