A release from the Deportation Defense Response Team<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Calling all lawyers! The Deportation Defense Response Team, a new ministry initiated by four Church of the Brethren districts, is working to defend our Brethren family against the increasingly escalated risk of detention and deportation in the US. The team is working in partnership with Emmett Witkovsky-Eldred, a lawyer from Washington, D.C., and a member of the Church of the Brethren, to identify approaches and gather legal assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The team is organizing this initial online meeting for all lawyers willing to help Church of the Brethren members who are in need of legal assistance, including navigating immigration forms and situations. This involvement may range from consultation to representation, pro bono or at reduced cost. You do not need to be familiar with immigration law to attend or assist in these efforts; we will provide an orientation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
