{"id":25201,"date":"2025-05-12T08:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-05-12T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/news\/?p=25201"},"modified":"2025-05-12T22:03:46","modified_gmt":"2025-05-12T22:03:46","slug":"messenger-magazine-receives-awards-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/news\/2025\/messenger-magazine-receives-awards-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Messenger magazine receives three awards from the Associated Church Press"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:33.33%\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Messenger<\/em>, the Church of the Brethren magazine, received three awards&#8211;an award of excellence, an award of merit, and an honorable mention&#8211;from the Associated Church Press in the 2024 \u201cBest of the Church Press\u201d contest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Awards were announced during the ACP\u2019s annual convention in Chicago on April 30-May 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ACP gives three levels of awards: award of excellence (first place), award of merit (second place), and honorable mention (third place). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year\u2019s contest had more than 760 entries in nearly 90 categories, and was judged by Christian professionals from across the country in areas such as journalism, design, theology, and communications.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\"><div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"940\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/05\/PaulGroutArtText-TheHolyFamily-Dec2024Messenger.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-25202\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/05\/PaulGroutArtText-TheHolyFamily-Dec2024Messenger.jpg 940w, https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/05\/PaulGroutArtText-TheHolyFamily-Dec2024Messenger-300x191.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/05\/PaulGroutArtText-TheHolyFamily-Dec2024Messenger-768x490.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/05\/PaulGroutArtText-TheHolyFamily-Dec2024Messenger-560x357.jpg 560w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 940px) 100vw, 940px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>&#8220;The Holy Family&#8221; artwork and text by Paul Grout <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Paul Grout\u2019s artwork titled \u201cThe Holy Family\u201d received an award of excellence<\/strong> in the category Visual Communications: Illustration with Article or Cutline. It appeared on the cover and on page 16 of the December 2024 issue of <em>Messenger<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>William Miller\u2019s article \u201cHealthy Planet, Healthy People\u201d received an award of merit<\/strong> in the category Reporting and Writing: Science Writing for the World of Faith. It appeared on page 20 of the May 2024 issue of <em>Messenger<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Cheryl Brumbaugh-Cayford\u2019s article \u201cWhat do we spend on war?\u201d received an honorable mention<\/strong> in the category Reporting and Writing: Service Journalism.
