This team of four volunteers has been in place serving children and families since Monday, Oct. 7. Because of the difficulties of travel in the area, with so many roads destroyed by flooding, the CDS team decided to live in the shelter. As of this reporting, the team has had 40 child contacts.

“CDS is grateful for our partnership with the Red Cross and the opportunity to serve children and families with a calm presence,” said a statement from staff. “Assisting in this is the Kit of Comfort with specially chosen toys to encourage child-led play and to help begin the recovery process for these young children.
