The Western Plains District of the Church of the Brethren has called Blaine and Nancy Miner to serve as co-district executive ministers in a half-time role. While they will begin familiarizing themselves on a limited basis with the work of the district during June and July, their formal starting date will be Aug. 5 following the Western Plains District conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During their initial transition into the role, Nancy will work fewer hours until her retirement as manager of the Church of the Brethren General Secretary\u2019s office on Oct. 31.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Blaine Miner holds a bachelor of science degree from Elizabethtown (Pa.) College and a master of arts in theology from Bethany Theological Seminary. He was ordained in Illinois and Wisconsin District and Highland Avenue Church of the Brethren in Elgin, Ill., in 1996, where the Miners also currently are members. His ministry experience includes pastoring Dixon (Ill.) Church of the Brethren and multiple positions as chaplain for the State of Illinois including at Chicago Read Mental Health Center, Illinois Youth Center (St. Charles), Sheridan Correctional Center, Illinois River Correctional Center, and Dixon Correctional Center. He served as moderator of Illinois and Wisconsin District in 2021. He is currently pursuing spiritual direction training through the Christos Center for Spiritual Formation of Lino Lakes, Minn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nancy Miner holds a bachelor\u2019s degree from McPherson (Kan.) College. Her employment with the Church of the Brethren began in 1993 with various administrative positions at Eder Financial (then Brethren Benefit Trust) and the Association of Brethren Caregivers\/Caring Ministries. She has served as office manager for the Church of the Brethen General Secretary\u2019s office since May 2009.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Miners plan to relocate to the Cedars Retirement Center in McPherson, Kan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
