{"id":23330,"date":"2024-03-01T10:24:00","date_gmt":"2024-03-01T10:24:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/news\/?p=23330"},"modified":"2024-03-01T22:41:20","modified_gmt":"2024-03-01T22:41:20","slug":"seminar-on-immigration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/news\/2024\/seminar-on-immigration\/","title":{"rendered":"Christian Citizenship Seminar to focus on immigration and asylum policies"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Christian Citizenship Seminar (CCS) planned for Washington, D.C., on April 11-16 will bring senior youth and their adult advisors together in the nation\u2019s capital to engage the theme <strong>\u201cAnd They Fled: Advocating for Just Immigration Policy\u201d (Matthew 2:13-23).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The CCS 2024 focus is on immigration and asylum policies, looking especially at the story in Matthew chapter 2 in which Jesus\u2019 own family had to flee political violence and leave their home. Youth and their advisors will learn about the issues, meet with policymakers and activists, and experience ways in which Christian faith drives service to and advocacy for others.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-style-default\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"227\" src=\"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/12\/CCS2024Logo-600px.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-23094\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/12\/CCS2024Logo-600px.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/12\/CCS2024Logo-600px-300x114.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/12\/CCS2024Logo-600px-560x212.jpg 560w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event will include leadership by Becky Ullom Naugle, director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries for the Church of the Brethren, and Nathan Hosler, director of the denomination\u2019s Office of Peacebuilding and Policy, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Scholarships may be available to help youth attend.
