The 2024 Annual Conference of the Church of the Brethren is planned for July 3-7 in Grand Rapids, Mich. Moderator Madalyn Metzger has chosen the theme \u201cWelcome and Worthy\u201d (Romans 16:2, CEB).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn today\u2019s society, we spend a lot of time wondering if we\u2019re worthy,\u201d she wrote in a theme statement. \u201cAnd, whether we admit it or not, we spend a lot of time assessing others based on our own standards. We do this, because we\u2019ve set up so many \u2018rules\u2019 for ourselves since before we can remember–rules that have been influenced by our families, neighbors, teachers, and experiences. These rules are how we make sense of the world. They help us interpret and navigate our complex social constructs.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut, when taken to the extreme, they also can limit our understanding of the infinite worth of every human being. They can painfully and disruptively fracture our relationships. The music coordinator is Seth Crissman of Harrisonburg, Va.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The choir director is Julie Richard of Finksburg, Md.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pianist is Jocelyn Watkins of East Peoria, Ill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The organist is Robin Risser Mundey of Frederick, Md.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The children\u2019s choir director is Stephanie Rappatta of Elkhart, Ind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
