During 2023, four clergy cohorts met for mutual encouragement, spiritual support, and conversation around topics of shared interest. Meeting once a month, 90 minutes at a time, participants worshiped together, shared resources, discussed common challenges, and helped each other find strength for the journey of ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, new Strength for the Journey cohorts are forming for 2024, with different themes but the same format: monthly, virtual gatherings supported by funds for resources and a skilled convener to help hold sacred space for each group of ministers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strength for the Journey is a program of the Brethren Academy for Ministerial Leadership, a partnership of Bethany Theological Seminary and the Church of the Brethren.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

All the 2024 cohorts listed below are open to additional applicants:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

— “Jesus in the Neighborhood”<\/strong> as related to peacemaking, spiritual practices, and spiritual direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

— Pastors of visitation<\/strong> working with case studies to better serve those who are chronically ill and\/or facing end of life concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

— Pastors new to ministry<\/strong> and\/or a congregation who are navigating leadership issues, regular preaching, congregational\/community needs, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

— Ministers exploring the church\u2019s response and adaptation to changes in society<\/strong> that impact regular church attendance and participation in church life. One possible resource: Brene Brown\u2019s \u201cAtlas of the Heart.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyone interested in applying for one or more of the 2024 Strength for the Journey cohorts may apply at https:\/\/bethanyseminary.edu\/brethren-academy\/strength-for-the-journey<\/a>. Applications will be accepted through mid-December 2023 or until a cohort reaches capacity. Each cohort consists of five to eight ministers. Participants may earn up to 1.2 continuing education units (CEUs) for full participation in this program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
