{"id":22808,"date":"2023-09-29T21:36:04","date_gmt":"2023-09-29T21:36:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/news\/?p=22808"},"modified":"2023-09-29T21:36:51","modified_gmt":"2023-09-29T21:36:51","slug":"manchester-church-hosts-sing-me-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/news\/2023\/manchester-church-hosts-sing-me-home\/","title":{"rendered":"Manchester Church hosts the Sing Me Home Festival this Saturday, Sept. 30"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>By Chris Good<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Sing Me Home Festival returns to North Manchester, Ind., tomorrow&#8211;Saturday, Sept. 30&#8211; with a full-day event hosted by Manchester Church of the Brethren. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sing Me Home 2023 is free and open to the public, and will feature local artisans, local food, family-friendly activities, and a diverse lineup of music including acclaimed singer-songwriter Carrie Newcomer, Grammy-winner Peter Madcat Ruth, Indianapolis-based Mariachi Zelaya, award-winning hip-hop\/soul cellist and singer-songwriter Jordan Hamilton, and the Miami Nation of Indiana Twigh Twee Singers! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A free evening community meal also will be served celebrating local farmers during this harvest season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Co-coordinators are Chris Good and Seth Hendricks. The Sing Me Home Festival is a collaboration between Manchester Church of the Brethren and Good and Hendricks\u2019 band Friends with the Weather.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hendricks is associate pastor of youth and congregational life for the Manchester Church. \u201cWe hope to create a space where a gathered community can experience a deep, spiritual sense of home,\u201d he said. \u201cWhether it\u2019s being in the beautiful physical setting of our festival grounds, in the company of beloved friends and neighbors, or being inspired by phenomenal musicians, we look forward to sharing a wonderful day together on September 30th. All are welcome to join us!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Good is an Ann Arbor, Mich.-based musician and North Manchester native, and Sing Me Home\u2019s founder and co-coordinator. \u201cWe are so excited to build upon a successful first year of programming in 2022 by hosting our most ambitious event yet.
