The conversation will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 3, centered on Gil Rendle’s book Quietly Courageous: Leading the Church in a Changing World. Registration is now open at www.brethren.org/ministryoffice.

Leadership in turbulent times

Those who respond to the call to church leadership are passionate about leading with purpose and care. Yet many pastors struggle to respond to the challenges of a changing culture, while remaining faithful to an eternal Gospel message. They recognize that leading a congregation isn’t the same as leading a civic group or business, yet realize that people often interact in predictable ways. Rendle’s book offers insight for church leaders who want to lead well and respond with grace and courage to the unpredictable forces that shape our world.

Fillmore will facilitate a 10-week conversation. Sessions will be held virtually on Tuesdays from 7 to 8 p.m. (Eastern time), beginning Oct. 3. Continuing education units will be available to pastors, and the Part-Time Pastor, Full-Time Church Program will provide participants with a copy of the text.

‑‑‑‑‑‑‑‑‑‑

Find more Church of the Brethren news:

The speakers for National Youth Conference 2026

Brethren and the Declaration of Independence: Denise Kettering-Lane presents an equipping session

‘God of grace and God of glory’: A call to worship

Resolution on weapons transfer is adopted by the 2026 Annual Conference

Review and Evaluation Committee brings an interim report

Please pray… For the success of this book study, for John Fillmore as leader, and for all who participate.

The Church of the Brethren’s Part-Time Pastor, Full-Time Church Program has announced the next online book discussion led by “circuit rider” John Fillmore.
