— Anabaptism at 500 continues to seek photos and story ideas for a commemorative book. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnabaptists around the world are gearing up to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Anabaptist movement in 2025, and to mark this historic occasion, we are excited to announce the creation of a commemorative story book that will capture the diverse and inspiring stories of Anabaptist witness from around the globe,\u201d said an announcement from MennoMedia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe need more stories! We are eager to include a wide range of experiences and perspectives from Anabaptist communities worldwide. In particular, we encourage submissions from areas outside of the Ohio, Pennsylvania, Indiana, and Ontario regions to ensure a truly global representation. We invite individuals, congregations, organizations, and communities to submit their story ideas to be considered for inclusion in the book. These stories can be both large-scale projects and small, personal testimonies that illustrate the transformative power of Anabaptist faith.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A delegation from Ekklesiyar Yan\u2019uwa a Nigeria (EYN, the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria) has been traveling to various Church of the Brethren venues in the midwest and eastern states since Annual Conference. <\/strong>Part of the group has returned to Nigeria, and part are continuing their travels and will attend the Brethren World Assembly this week in Elizabethtown, and the celebration of Germantown Church of the Brethren\u2019s 300th anniversary, before returning home.

Here are pictures taken by Global Mission executive Eric Miller of the group visiting the Church of the Brethren General Offices in Illinois, Bethany Seminary in Indiana, and the Brethren Heritage Center in Ohio, which were among places that hosted them.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

— The July episode of “Brethren Voices,”<\/strong> the community television program produced by Portland (Ore.) Peace Church of the Brethren, features hospice and Barbara West, the granddaughter of Dan West who has 27 years of experience serving the terminally ill. West has served as a hospice nurse in California and Oregon and shares her experiences as well as some of the stories of those she has served. Brent Carlson hosts this program, #217 of \u201cBrethren Voices.\u201d This program serves as part 1, of a 2-part mini-series with Barbara West, \u201cOptimizing the Quality of Life for the Terminally Ill.\u201d Find Brethren Voices on YouTube.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

— The National Council of Churches of Christ in the USA (NCC)<\/strong> is announcing an upcoming event to be held in Washington, D.C., on the 60th anniversary of the 1963 civil rights March on Washington. Titled \u201cMarch on Washington–Not a Commemoration, a Continuation!\u201d<\/strong> will feature leadership from Al Sharpton, founder and president of National Action Network; Arndrea Waters King, president of the Drum Major Institute; and Martin Luther King, III, chair of the Drum Major Institute. — John Krabacher\u2019s work to help grow the New Carlisle (Ohio) Community Garden<\/strong> has gotten media attention from the Dayton Daily News<\/em>. The article characterizes Krabacher\u2019s community involvement as \u201ca multi-faceted, decades-long commitment to growth\u201d and notes that he \u201cwas active on city council for many years and even spent a few as vice mayor. A former area business owner, he is a long-standing member of New Carlisle Church of the Brethren at 2019 North Main St. Krabacher also works with Brethren Disaster Ministries to help rebuilds homes torn down by storms and tornadoes.\u201d Krabacher also was one of the American Brethren who took part in a March delegation to Nigeria in celebration of the 100th anniversary of EYN.
