A peace vigil by On Earth Peace\u00a0took place first thing this morning, before devotions led by Dana Cassell of Brethren Volunteer Service.\u00a0Brethren videographer David Sollenberger spoke\u00a0for\u00a0morning\u00a0worship,\u00a0his message interspersed with video clips and photographs from 25 years of documenting the Church of the Brethren. Small groups followed before lunch. The afternoon brought opportunities to attend workshops, go on hiking trips in Rocky Mountain National Park, work at service projects, and attend choir practice.\u00a0The evening service\u00a0heard from\u00a0preacher Carol Scheppard, an ordained minister and vice president and dean of academic\u00a0<\/em>affairs at Bridgewater (Va.) College.\u00a0Late-evening activities include a reception honoring Chris Douglas, former\u00a0director of youth and\u00a0young adult ministries and now conference director for the Church of the Brethren; a\u00a0concert\u00a0by\u00a0Philadelphia-based\u00a0music group Reilly, whose bass player Matthew Bomberger grew up\u00a0Brethren and went to NYC as a youth; an\u00a0open microphone session where NYCers\u00a0share their talents; and a Christian Citizenship Seminar reunion.<\/em><\/p>\n
