Leadership of Ekklesiyar Yan\u2019uwa a Nigeria (EYN, the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria) has conducted three days of prayer and fasting, on Feb. 21-23, for Nigeria\u2019s general election and the upcoming EYN Centenary Celebration. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a letter sent out from the office of EYN general secretary Daniel Y. C. Mbaya to all local church branches, local church councils, and district church councils, the church leadership called on \u201call members of EYN (Clergy and Members) to a three (3) day prayer and fasting\u2026for peaceful, credible and fair elections as well as centenary celebration.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nigeria\u2019s general election is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 25, to elect the president and vice president and members of the Senate and House of Representatives, while the regional election of state governors and assembly members is slated for March 11.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Zonal Centenary celebrations of EYN\u2019s 100th anniversary went successfully in five zones of the denomination, in Biu, Lassa, Chibok, Yola, and Michika. The remaining zonal celebrations will continue in Mubi, Gulak, Garkida, Jos, Abuja, and Maiduguri. The grand finale of the Centenary Celebration will start with an international press conference on March 16 and a grand finale event on March 17 at the EYN Headquarters.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

In his regular briefing at the EYN Headquarters, EYN president Joel S. Billi lamented Nigeria\u2019s currency redesign crisis, the replacement of the Nigerian naira with a redesigned currency, which has imposed various hardships on the livelihood of Nigerians. He said many pastors are showing concern about what they call \u201cnaira lockdown\u201d due to a scarcity of naira in circulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
