I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event is sponsored by the Discipleship Ministries of the Church of the Brethren, and is scheduled for Sept. 4-8, 2023, at Lake Junaluska, N.C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cA lot has happened in the world since we last gathered at Lake Junaluska for NOAC in 2019,\u201d said a theme statement from the planning team, in part. \u201cWe never could have imagined that a pandemic would keep us apart for so long\u2026. In 2021 we were forced to take NOAC online and participate in a virtual conference. We were pleasantly surprised to find that even on our computer screens we could develop a sense of community. During the past three years we have had to make many changes in our home congregations and in our denomination as we continued to minister to one another through a time of uncertainty. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;So, now what? Perhaps we are feeling some apprehension and fear. How do we move forward into an unknown future when we aren\u2019t quite sure where we are heading? We find a word of hope from God through the prophet, Isaiah. \u2018I am going to do something brand new!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-style-default\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"548\" src=\"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/12\/NOAC2023Logo-600px.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20625\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/12\/NOAC2023Logo-600px.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/12\/NOAC2023Logo-600px-300x274.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/12\/NOAC2023Logo-600px-560x511.jpg 560w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left has-background has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"background-color:#e2e8ee\"><em><strong>Please pray\u2026<\/strong> For the team planning next year\u2019s National Older Adult Conference, that their work will bear much good fruit.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Daily themes also have been announced:<\/strong> for Monday, \u201cWatch for the new thing\u2026\u201d (Isaiah 43:19-21); for Tuesday, \u201c\u2026What God has done\u201d (Genesis 12:1-9 and Mark 1:16-20); for Wednesday, \u201c\u2026What God is doing\u201d (Acts 8:26-40 and 16:11-15); for Thursday, \u201c\u2026What God will do\u201d (Matthew 28:16-20 and Ephesians 4:1-7 and 11-16); for Friday, \u201cChallenge and sending forth\u201d (Isaiah 43:19-21 and Revelation 21:1-6).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Keynote speakers are<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212; Mark Charles, a speaker, writer, and consultant on the complexities of American history, race, culture, and faith;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212; Ken Medema, a Christian singer and songwriter, and Ted Swartz, a Mennonite actor and writer; and<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212; Osheta Moore, a writer, pastor, speaker, and podcaster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The preachers include<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212; Lexi Aligarbes, co-pastor of First Church of the Brethren in Harrisburg, Pa.;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212; Jeremy Ashworth, pastor of Circle of Peace Church of the Brethren in Peoria, Ariz.;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212; Deanna Brown, an ordained minister and director of Cultural Connections India Pilgrimages;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212; Christina Singh, pastor of Freeport (Ill.)
