We were made for this time.&#8221;<br \/>\n<em>\u2013Annual Conference moderator Shawn Flory Replogle, preaching for the opening worship service<\/em><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&#8220;The state of our finances could be better, but they could be worse.&#8221;<br \/>\n<em>\u2013Church of the Brethren treasurer Judy Keyser, reporting to the Mission and Ministry Board<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>International guests come from India, Nigeria, and Haiti<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>International guests at this Annual Conference come from Ekklesiyar Yan\u2019uwa a Nigeria (EYN\u2013the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria), ecumenical partnerships against hunger in Haiti, and the Church of North India, which was born in part out of the Church of the Brethren mission in India.<\/p>\n<p>Church of North India Bishop Vinod Malaviya will be attending the Conference, participating in an insight session alongside Ruoxia Li, who represents a group in China celebrating 100 years of the Chingding medical clinic that was started by the Brethren mission there.<\/p>\n<p>EYN leader Markus Gamache is traveling to the Conference from his hometown of Jos, Nigeria. Also here in Pittsburgh with the Brethren is Jabani Adzibiya, an EYN leader who is currently enrolled at Bethany Theological Seminary in Richmond, Ind.<\/p>\n<p>From Haiti the Conference is welcoming Cher Frere Fortune, an agriculturalist working in partnership with the Foods Resource Bank and the Church of the Brethren\u2019s Global Food Crisis Fund, and his translator Kelsey Day from Illinois, along with FRB staff member Joan Fumetti. Also scheduled to be here is Diane Ford Jones from the Bread for the World staff.<\/p>\n<p>Haitian Brethren leader Jean Bily Telfort, who was scheduled to report about the earthquake relief work in the Port-au-Prince area, cannot attend because the US government denied him a visa to enter the country.\u00a0<em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<br \/>\nThe News Team for the 2010 Annual Conference includes writers Karen Garrett, Frank Ramirez, Frances Townsend; photographers Kay Guyer, Justin Hollenberg, Keith Hollenberg, Glenn Riegel; website staff Amy Heckert and Jan Fischer Bachman; and news director and editor Cheryl Brumbaugh-Cayford.
