— Shenandoah District has announced that Evergreen Church of the Brethren will be celebrating its 125th anniversary<\/strong> on the weekend of Oct. 28-30, with special speakers and events: Friday, Oct. 28, 7-9 p.m., guest speaker Glenn Bollinger, pastor of Mill Creek Church of the Brethren, with the Mill Creek Church choir bringing special music, followed by a social time with refreshments; Saturday, Oct. 29, 7-9 p.m., guest speaker David Brunk, retired Church of the Brethren pastor, with the Ford Sisters bringing special music, followed by a social time with refreshments; Sunday, Oct. 30, 10 a.m. to 12 noon, guest speaker and district executive minister John Jantzi, with the Good Time Gospel Quartet bringing special music, and a meal following in the social hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

— Virlina District has announced a mortgage-burning celebration at Living Faith Church of the Brethren<\/strong> in Concord, N.C. \u201cThis is a very significant achievement for this 26-year-old congregation. — Missouri and Arkansas District has announced<\/strong> that, after 151 years of faithful ministry, Greenwood Church of the Brethren near Mountain Grove, Mo., was officially closed by the vote of the conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

— \u201c21st-Century Youth\/Young Adult Ministry\u201d with keynote speaker Becky Ullom Naugle,<\/strong> director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry for the Church of the Brethren, is a continuing education event hosted at Peoria (Ill.) Church of the Brethren in advance of the Illinois and Wisconsin District Conference. The event is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 4, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (central time). Cost is $15, which includes lunch and 0.5 continuing education credit. In addition to the sessions led by Ullom Naugle, the day will include worship and prayer. — The Village at Morrisons Cove in Pennsylvania has launched \u201cA Million Letters of Hope\u201d campaign. <\/strong>The campaign is intended to \u201cbrighten the life of those who call the Village \u2018home\u2019 and to continue its mission of caring for residents without resources,\u201d said an announcement from Middle Pennsylvania District. \u201cHere\u2019s how to be a part of this outreach: Write a letter of care and love to a resident, (or have your child draw a picture for them). Be creative! To further the mission of caring for residents without resources, you\u2019re asked to make a donation of at least $2 per letter\u2026. While so many other care facilities have set limitations on who can receive care based on income and financial resources, the Village continues to extend care to those with limited funds. This was the mission of Morrisons Cove Home from its very beginning in 1903.\u201d Letters may be mailed to The Village at Morrisons Cove, c\/o Liz Foster, 429 South Market Street, Martinsburg PA 16662.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
