During open enrollment, those who currently use or are eligible for insurance products offered through BIS will be able to take advantage of this new online service to update, add, or change insurance coverage for 2022.

Open enrollment is the time to think about what coverage you have versus what you may need. “If you are a pastor who changed employment in the past year and missed the new-hire deadline to enroll in insurance, open enrollment gives you the chance to get the coverage you need without underwriting,” said Lynnae Rodeffer, director of Employee Benefits. “Or if you missed a deadline for updating insurance following a birth, death, marriage, or divorce, again open enrollment gives you that opportunity.”

There will no longer be paper enrollment forms to fill out and mail in for any and all insurance updates or changes for 2022 coverage. These will now be made through our safe online portal at https://cobbt.mybenefitchoice.com. And for any customers (old or new) who have Internet access challenges, insurance issues and enrollment can be addressed via the Milliman Call Center at 800-217-0067, which is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. (Eastern time).

Brethren Insurance product offerings vary by employer, but may include any of the following:
Brethren Medical Plan
Vision and dental
Life
Accident
Longterm care
Medicare supplement
Short- and longterm disability
Coverage for pets

If you have any questions prior to Nov. 15 about online enrollment, Brethren Insurance Services, or eligibility, please contact Ed Shannon at 847-622-3370 or eshannon@cobbt.org.

–– Jean Bednar is director of communications for Brethren Benefit Trust.

‑‑‑‑‑‑‑‑‑‑

Find more Church of the Brethren news:

Standing Committee acts on relationship with Eder Financial and Everence at special Zoom meeting

EDF grants continue Nigeria Crisis Response, support Lebanese affected by war

Standing Committee to hold special Zoom meeting

Resources now available for National Youth Sunday 2026

Office of Peacebuilding and Policy signs interfaith letter opposing $1.5 trillion Pentagon budget

Brethren Insurance Services now offers the convenience of an online portal for insurance enrollment.
