Church of the Brethren members are advised not to reply to this fake email and to immediately delete it. The email is titled \u201cOUR LORD BLESSINGS BE WITH YOU\u201d and includes a scam request for gift cards to donate to patients with COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Church of the Brethren staff is aware that such scam emails are becoming more common and occasionally appear under various names. These can appear to come from anyone you know. Look for signs that such emails are spam, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212; A sending address that is not consistent with the usual email addresses for that person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212; Mention of being \u201cin a meeting\u201d or \u201con a conference call\u201d or otherwise out of contact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212; Citing the need for \u201ca favor.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212; Asking for help with a personal crisis, such as being out of the country and in some kind of trouble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212; Requesting gift cards, cash, or checks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212; Offering reimbursement for gifts, or offering to pay money to the recipient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Feel free to contact our denominational staff to verify a message\u2019s authenticity if you are not sure an email is legitimate.
