{"id":1194,"date":"2008-11-07T00:00:11","date_gmt":"2008-11-07T00:00:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/new.brethren.org\/news\/?p=1194"},"modified":"2018-08-25T22:53:19","modified_gmt":"2018-08-25T22:53:19","slug":"daily-news-november-7-2008","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/news\/2008\/daily-news-november-7-2008\/","title":{"rendered":"Daily News: November 7, 2008"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>\u201cCelebrating the Church of the Brethren\u2019s 300th Anniversary in 2008&#8243;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>(Nov. 7, 2008) &#8212; The Brethren Witness\/Washington Office has highlighted Thanksgiving resources in its most recent \u201cAction Alert.\u201d The office recommends resources from the National Council of Churches and the National Farm Worker Ministry to Brethren for this year\u2019s celebrations of harvest and Thanksgiving.<\/p>\n<p>The National Council of Churches (NCC) Eco-Justice Program is offering two resources suitable for use at the Thanksgiving season:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the Lord&#8217;s Table: Everyday Thanksgiving\u201d is for worship leaders, adult educators, and teenage youth group leaders in congregations. \u201cAt the Lord&#8217;s Table\u201d focuses on how food choices and the type of agriculture we support reflect our relationship with God\u2019s creation. The resource provides sermon starters, liturgies, prayers, and youth group ideas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSacred Food\u201d is a Sunday school and group activity curriculum for elementary age children.<br \/>\nGo to www.nccecojustice.org\/resources.html to find these two resources under the title \u201cFood and Farming Resources.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHarvest of Justice Table Prayers\u201d are available through the National Farm Worker Ministry (NFWM) website. The prayers can be used in worship services throughout the harvest season, in Bible studies, in small groups, or at the family dinner table. NFWM is encouraging supporters to participate in a tradition of the farm worker by hosting a sacrificial meal honoring the hands that harvest our food.
