New workcamp locations in 2016 included Brethren Woods in Keezletown, Va.; Knoxville, Tenn.; Camp Mardela in Denton, Md.; and Portland, Ore.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_11927\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11927\" style=\"width: 322px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-11927\" src=\"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/11\/gardening-was-one-of-the.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"322\" height=\"255\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/11\/gardening-was-one-of-the.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/11\/gardening-was-one-of-the-300x238.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 322px) 100vw, 322px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-11927\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><small>Photo by Deanna Beckner<\/small><br \/><em>Gardening was one of the tasks for the 2016 workcampers.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Portland workcampers partnered with Brethren Volunteer Service (BVS) projects at Human Solutions and SnowCap, where they were able to witness some of the impact that BVS has had on the community, as well as work on some needed projects.<\/p>\n<p>The Knoxville workcamp materialized from a workcamp coordinator\u2019s service experience with Knox Area Rescue Ministries (KARM) at the 2012 National Young Adult Conference. KARM was visited along with three other sites, and provided a place of work for the Knoxville workcampers this year.<\/p>\n<p>Brethren Woods and Camp Mardela became workcamp sites through a continued partnership with Church of the Brethren outdoor ministries, allowing workcampers to visit beautiful spaces for worship and fun. Some workcampers took advantage of the new family pricing for the Intergenerational Workcamp at Camp Mardela and brought along multiple members of the family to serve together.<\/p>\n<p>The workcamp staff wishes to say \u201cthank you\u201d to all who participated with workcamps in one way or another. Workcamps break down barriers and allow all to be Christ\u2019s hands and feet in the world, and your dedication to this important ministry is appreciated.
