Remembering Belita Mitchell
Belita D. Mitchell, the first Black woman to be ordained in the Church of the Brethren and the first Black woman to serve as moderator of the Annual Conference, passed away Feb. 10 at her home in Mechanicsburg, Pa.

The 2024 Annual Conference of the Church of the Brethren is planned for July 3-7 in Grand Rapids, Mich. Moderator Madalyn Metzger has chosen the theme “Welcome and Worthy” (Romans 16:2, CEB).
Ballot is announced for the 2023 Annual Conference
The Nominating Committee of the Standing Committee of district delegates to the Church of the Brethren Annual Conference are presenting the following ballot for the 2023 Conference. The elections will be held during the annual meeting taking place in Cincinnati, Ohio, on July 4-8, 20223.
New leadership is consecrated, theme for 2022 Annual Conference is announced
At the close of this morning’s Annual Conference worship service, new leadership was consecrated with prayer and the laying on of hands. David Sollenberger (kneeling at left) was consecrated to serve as moderator of the 2022 Conference, and Tim McElwee (kneeling at right) was consecrated as moderator-elect.
Moderator’s name used in spam email
Annual Conference moderator Paul Mundey’s name has been used in a spam email this week. Church of the Brethren members are advised not to reply to this fake email and to immediately delete it. The email is titled “OUR LORD BLESSINGS BE WITH YOU” and includes a scam request for gift cards to donate to patients with COVID-19.
