Brethren Academy hosts annual Clergy Tax Seminar, ‘Brethren, We Have Met to Worship,’ among other upcoming courses

Upcoming events from the Brethren Academy for Ministerial Leadership include the annual Clergy Tax Seminar with leadership from Deb Oskin, scheduled for Feb. 1, 2025, as an online webinar; and the course “Brethren, We Have Met to Worship” with leadership from Christy Waltersdorff, scheduled for Jan. 15-March 11, 2025, as an online course via the Moodle virtual classroom.

‘History of the Church of the Brethren’ among upcoming Brethren Academy courses

“The deadline for ‘The History of the Church of the Brethren’ course is quickly approaching,” said an announcement from the Brethren Academy for Ministerial Leadership. “If you are interested in the course for TRIM, CEU credits or personal enrichment, please do not let the registration deadline pass by without learning more.”

Ventures courses explore Afrofuturism and theology, becoming more loving and inclusive church

The April and May offerings from the Ventures in Christian Discipleship program at McPherson (Kan.) College will be: on April 2, 6:30-8:30 p.m. (central time), “Introduction to Afrofuturism and Theology” presented by Tamisha Tyler, visiting assistant professor of Theology and Culture and Theopoetics at Bethany Seminary; and, on May 7 and 9, 7-8:30 p.m. (central time), “Becoming a More Loving and Inclusive Church” presented by Tim McElwee, who served as moderator of the 2023 Church of the Brethren Annual Conference.

Brethren Academy offers courses in English and courses in Spanish

Following are upcoming courses from the Brethren Academy for Ministerial Leadership, a ministry training partnership of the Church of the Brethren’s Office of Ministry and Bethany Theological Seminary. Several courses are offered in English, with other courses offered in Spanish:

Susquehanna Valley Ministry Center announces upcoming continuing education events

As the seasons of the year turn, we also turn to our upcoming continuing education offerings. While we certainly hoped the pandemic would be greatly diminished by now, we still find ourselves watching carefully and planning with caution. Please note the method of delivery for each event: one is in person, one is via Zoom, and one is hybrid giving both options (attending in person or via Zoom). Registration is open for all the events described below.

Two-part Ventures course to focus on cultural competency

The May offering from the Ventures in Christian Discipleship program at McPherson (Kan.) College will be “The Ministry of Jesus, Ubuntu and Cultural Competency for These Times” led by LaDonna Sanders Nkosi, director of Intercultural Ministries for the Church of the Brethren. The course will be held online in two evening sessions May 4 and May 11 at 6-8 p.m. – 8 p.m. (Central time).

Ventures course to focus on ‘Reformations Past and Present’

The March offering from the Ventures in Christian Discipleship program at McPherson (Kan.) College will be “Reformations Past and Present,” to be held online March 13 at 9 a.m. to 12 noon (Central time), presented by Bobbi Dykema.
