The Compelling Vision Process Team has written a report on the Compelling Vision conversations that took place at Annual Conference in Greensboro in July. This report is being shared at district conferences and/or through district communication channels. We thought that all of you might be interested in reading it since so much of our time at the past Conference was spent discussing together a compelling vision for the Church of the Brethren.

Compelling vision conversations were the highlight of the 2019 Annual Conference held July 3-7 in Greensboro, N.C. Other business was set aside–except necessary items such as elections and reports–to make time for the process intended to help the Church of the Brethren discern a compelling vision to guide the denomination into the future.

The two-hour service was the closing event of business and a worshipful conclusion to the compelling vision conversations. It included the four elements of self-examination, feetwashing, a simple meal, and a service of communion.

It was good that we came to the table refreshed after a night’s sleep, because our first task in the compelling vision process today was to dream big. Big dreams are in order as we realize that Jesus has been calling and equipping us to serve the hurting world.
