A new Brethren effort has been put together by denominational staff and districts to respond to needs of farmers and communities following a summer of extreme drought. The Church of the Brethren drought response will be carried out in two parts, a Farm Relief Initiative, and a Community Food Security and Nutrition Initiative.

Church Staff Involved in Ecumenical Prayer Service for Peace in Syria
On Tuesday, June 12, at 7:30 p.m. an ecumenical prayer service for peace in Syria was initiated and organized by Nathan Hosler, ecumenical peace coordinator for the National Council of Churches (NCC) and advocacy officer for the Church of the Brethren, in collaboration with Father Fady Abdulahad, a Syrian priest ministering in Alexandria, Va.

The Church of the Brethren’s advocacy and peace witness office based in Washington, D.C., has issued a statement on the current issues with regard to religious liberty and the provision of health insurance coverage for contraception.
