Standing with People of Color Committee offers resources

A release from the Standing with People of Color Committee

Resources to facilitate learning and growth from the Church of the Brethren Standing with People of Color Committee are part of the three-year denomination-wide study/action process. Kindly read through and share within your own congregation or district.

Pray: “Grant us, Lord God, a vision of your world as your love would have it; a world where the weak are protected, and none go hungry or poor; a world where the riches of creation are shared, and everyone can enjoy them; a world where different races and cultures live in harmony and mutual respect; a world where peace is built with justice, and justice is guided by love. Give us the inspiration and courage to build it, through Jesus Christ our Lord” (author unknown).

Read: Faithful Antiracism: Moving Past Talk to Systemic Change by Chad Brennan and Christina Barland Edmondson. Brennan was a keynote and equipping session speaker at the 2023 Annual Conference of the Church of the Brethren. A video series and free assessments are available at https://faithfulantiracism.com.

Study: Have you heard the term “implicit bias” but are not quite sure what it is? Learn more through a free online series offered by the Kirwan Institute at the Ohio State University. To access the series, go to https://kirwaninstitute.osu.edu/implicit-bias-module-series.

Watch or listen: For Black History Month in February, PBS television stations offered a variety of shows and music to stream. Check your local PBS schedule for details. Some resources are available at www.pbs.org/articles/what-to-watch-black-history-month.
