The Part-Time Pastor; Full-Time Church program of the Church of the Brethren’s Office of Ministry is planning events for the next few months. Multi-vocational pastors are invited to a study of the book Flourishing in Ministry by Matt Bloom. Multi-vocational clergywomen are particularly invited to join Erin Matteson for “Soul Sisters…Connecting and Deepening Together.”
John Fillmore, one of the “circuit riders” for the program, will lead the book study of Matt Bloom’s Flourishing in Ministry: How to Cultivate Clergy Well-Being. It’s no surprise to pastors, but ministry can be challenging. Ministry work is complex, continuous, and diverse and the demands pastors feel can be overwhelming. Yet we also know that pastors who are spiritually, emotionally, and physically healthy are better able to serve their congregations. Multi-vocational pastors are invited to this 10-week book discussion as we dig a little deeper into the things that contribute to pastoral wellbeing. Sessions will begin Jan. 16 and will be held on Tuesday evenings beginning at 7 p.m. (Eastern time). Registration is limited, so sign up soon. Books will be provided by the program, and continuing education credit will be available. Register at https://forms.gle/JWi3m7pfAP6ZUCzL9.
Erin Matteson, a spiritual director and one of the circuit riders for the program, will host “Soul Sisters…Connecting and Deepening Together” for multi-vocational clergywomen. This monthly gathering will facilitate various spiritual practices like lectio divina and visio divina. The online gatherings will be held on the second Monday of each month, from February through June, offering the opportunity to form sacred circles with others in hopes of nourishing spiritual wellbeing. Register by Feb. 1 at https://forms.gle/ePk1UHuvkZoqW4Y19. Note that two time choices are offered for each gathering to allow greater opportunity for participation. The same content will be offered at both times. Contact Matteson by email at firstname.lastname@example.org with content-related questions, or contact Tabitha Rudy by email at email@example.com with registration-related questions.
