John Jantzi to conclude his leadership of Shenandoah District in early 2025

John Jantzi has announced that he will conclude his service as district executive minister for the Church of the Brethren’s Shenandoah District, as of March 1, 2025. He has served in the position for almost 12 years, since Aug. 1, 2012. During these years, he has given leadership to district ministries during a season of significant change while faithfully guiding district staff and leaders in their work.

In addition to previous roles on the district level, Jantzi has been active in the wider church as a member of the Annual Conference-appointed Vitality and Viability Committee in 2016 to 2017, and as a member of the Compelling Vision Team whose work was affirmed by the 2021 Annual Conference. As a member of the Council of District Executives, he served on the Ministry Issues Committee, the Ministry Advisory Council, and as representative to the Outdoor Ministries Association.

Previously, he served pastorates in Shenandoah District and was active in a wide variety of district leadership positions. He was an instructor for the Christian Growth Institute of the district and an adjunct instructor for Eastern Mennonite University teaching history of the Bible and Old Testament themes.

He is a graduate of Union Theological Seminary and Presbyterian School of Christian Education, earning a doctor of ministry; of Eastern Mennonite Seminary, earning a master of divinity; and Eastern Mennonite College, earning a bachelor of science in Sociology.
