From a report by Bob Kettering and Joel Peña
ASIGLEH (the Church of the Brethren in Venezuela) held its annual conference in Cucuta, Colombia, on March 12-16 with about 120 church leaders and families in attendance. The conference was led by Roger Moreno, who is president of ASIGLEH. The conference included teaching on Brethren beliefs and practices, several sermons, challenges for mission, and business sessions.
International guests who shared in teaching and preaching were Marcos Inhauser from Igreja da Irmandade (the Church of the Brethren in Brazil) and Joel Peña, Leonor Ochoa, and Bob Kettering from the United States.
Greetings were shared through video by Eric Miller, director of Global Mission for the Church of the Brethren, and Joel Billi, president of Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa a Nigeria (EYN, the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria).
The conference concluded with a four-hour love feast with a meal, feetwashing, communion, anointing for the 120 in attendance, a service of commissioning of church leaders, licensing and ordaining of pastors.
Representatives from three Colombian churches were also in attendance. ASIGLEH presently has about 51 congregations and preaching points.
