Church World Service (CWS) has put together an extensive online resource titled “Interfaith Toolkit to End Family Separation and Keep Families Together.” The Church of the Brethren is a member denomination of Church World Service, and partners with CWS through Brethren Disaster Ministries. CWS has worked for decades with refugee resettlement and support for migrants.

The “toolkit” is a compilation of CWS resources and resources from other ecumenical partners as well as interfaith and other sources. It includes several sections:

— up-to-date background on the government’s decision to separate parents and children at the US border and this past week’s executive order;

— “Top Eight Ways for Faith Communities to Take Action” with suggestions such as meeting with members of Congress, writing letters to the editor of local media, signing an online faith statement against family separation, donating to CWS and other organizations working directly with refugees and migrants, taking part in a June 30 event to be held in Washington, D.C., and across the country, among others;

— answers to “Frequently Asked Questions” such as “How many children are being separated?” “What happens to the children?” “What happens to the parents?” and more;

— links to numerous faith statements from a wide variety of churches and other faith bodies, as well as additional links.
