The Annual Conference this afternoon did not adopt a recommendation from the Review and Evaluation Committee “that On Earth Peace no longer remain an agency of the Church of the Brethren.” The vote came as the delegate body addressed the 10 recommendations in the Review and Evaluation Committee’s report, and was announced as there were still two recommendations to be acted on.

The recommendation was determined to require a two-thirds majority, which was not attained. The vote was 370 for the recommendation, 280 against, which meant that with 56.9 percent the vote did not gain the required two-thirds majority.

“The vote means that On Earth Peace remains an agency of the Church of the Brethren,” said moderator Carol A. Scheppard.
