“Celebrating the Church of the Brethren’s 300th Anniversary in 2008”
“…As you also join in helping us by your prayers…” (2 Corinthians 1:11a).
Brethren Volunteer Service (BVS) leaders have asked for prayer following a devastating situation involving a trainee in its current orientation unit. Members of the orientation unit have been in training in Maryland, preparing for terms of service as fulltime volunteers.
One of the trainees in the unit has been involved in a tragic medical situation that is requiring an investigation by the Baltimore City police department. The outcome of that investigation is not yet known.
Church of the Brethren denominational staff have been offering support and caring for the trainee and family. Support is being offered also to the other members of the orientation unit and to the BVS orientation staff.
Prayer support is requested from the denomination during this difficult time for the BVS staff and volunteers.
Brethren Volunteer Service is a ministry of the Church of the Brethren, and this year is celebrating its 60th anniversary (http://www.brethrenvolunteerservice.org/).
