(May 16, 2007) — Recent grants made from the Church of the Brethren’s Global Food Crisis Fund, and Emergency Disaster Fund, have totaled $20,000.

The Global Food Crisis Fund has given $10,000 for operational support of the Foods Resource Bank for 2007. The same fund also has given $5,000 to The Gathering, a conference on “Sowing Seeds, Growing a Movement” planned as an interfaith hunger convocation to be held in Washington, D.C., on June 9-12.

The Emergency Disaster Fund has allocated $5,000 to Church World Service for an appeal in response to damage resulting from a massive, early-spring weather system that hammered the east coast and northeast. The funds will help support the deployment of Disaster Response and Recovery Liaisons emergency shipments to affected areas.
