Participants at the Haiti consultation join hands. The consultation brought together some 30 Haitian church leaders and leaders in the Haiti Medical Project with about 20 American Brethren and leaders from the United States who are involved in the ministries in Haiti.

Eglise des Freres in Haiti (the Church of the Brethren in Haiti) was started by Haitian Brethren living in the United States. The first Brethren were baptized in Haiti in May 2003. As of 2020, there were over 3000 members at 21 churches and eight preaching points with 16 ordained ministers.
Brethren Disaster Ministries led Church of the Brethren assistance after hurricanes Gustav, Hanna, and Ike and the January 2010 earthquake, all of which caused major devastation in an already impoverished country.
