{"id":2330,"date":"2024-06-18T15:19:33","date_gmt":"2024-06-18T15:19:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/dlf\/?page_id=2330"},"modified":"2025-06-18T22:49:06","modified_gmt":"2025-06-18T22:49:06","slug":"for-my-neighbors-good","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/dlf\/for-my-neighbors-good\/","title":{"rendered":"For My Neighbor\u2019s Good"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since the publication of For My Neighbor\u2019s Goodin 2024, many congregations have put the curriculum to use in their Sunday School classes and small groups.\u00a0 There have also been several district and denominational level trainings on the principles contained in this resource.\u00a0 As Brethren have worked through the study, many saw ways in which it could be improved and made even more useful.\u00a0 I am very grateful to all who have reached out to let us know how they were using For My Neighbor\u2019s Good and how we could make it better.\u00a0 This edition includes those suggestions from congregations and individuals, as well as other new material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Six Week Brethren Evangelism Training<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-style-default\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"793\" height=\"290\" src=\"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/dlf\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/2024\/06\/For-My-Neighbors-Good.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2329\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/dlf\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/2024\/06\/For-My-Neighbors-Good.jpg 793w, https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/dlf\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/2024\/06\/For-My-Neighbors-Good-300x110.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/dlf\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/2024\/06\/For-My-Neighbors-Good-768x281.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/dlf\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/2024\/06\/For-My-Neighbors-Good-560x205.jpg 560w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 793px) 100vw, 793px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This curriculum focuses on helping Brethren connect the story of their personal encounter with Jesus with the needs of others in their neighborhoods who have not yet met Jesus. Rather than trying to memorize a script or a set of answers to pre-formulated questions, we will work to help Christians unlock their personal testimonies.<br><br>Another aspect of this course will be to develop a team approach to evangelism. We will talk about how the whole church can be involved in helping individual members share Jesus with their neighbors, and how all Christians need to care about their reputation in their community. Participants will be asked to think about how things in their congregation may feel and look to visitors, along with other helpful exercises to make our church spaces and services more accessible to guests. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finally, participants will be reminded that getting new people into church is not the end goal.\u00a0 Evangelism is a first step into welcoming someone into a life-long apprenticeship to Jesus.\u00a0 Successful evangelism results in transformed lives, not just a higher number of folks in the pews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These and other topics will be covered by a mix of Bible study, small group sharing, projects and more.
