Messenger feature on McPherson Church of the Brethren’s “Jesus in the Neighborhood” program<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year the McPherson Church of the Brethren<\/a> established plans for \u201cJesus in the Neighborhood,\u201d an initiative supporting a denominational-wide effort to serve as disciples through relationship-based neighborhood engagement. Congregational feedback resulted in the church adopting four ACTIONS to support the local community. Those actions include Caring for Creation; Engaging in Service & Peacemaking; Supporting Youth, Family & Young Adults and Partnering for Racial Justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Care for Creation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Action I includes the following goals:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Local Projects: nature trails, tree planting, highway clean-up<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Reduce the carbon footprint of McPherson Church of the Brethren facility<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Solar array installed on church buildings<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Collaborate with other churches on care of creation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
