Hopewell is a therapeutic farm community dedicated to serving adults with serious mental illness. Through participation in meaningful work and group activities, Hopewell assists residents in moving to more independent living situations.
(A) Program Volunteers assist residents through everyday program activities. Residents have the option of participating in the chores of the farm, garden, housekeeping, kitchen, or grounds crews during the morning hours. In the afternoon, residents are given the choice of additional work crew activities or small group activities such as art, horsemanship, or reading. Evenings and weekends offer social activities and shopping opportunities off campus. Duties of the volunteers are flexible based on their skills and interests.
(B) Office Assistant Volunteers work under the direction of administrative staff in a variety of office duties, including clerical work and management of telephone calls.
We prefer volunteers who are least 22 years old and have two years of college or equivalent experience in a human service setting. Other requirements include a valid driver’s license, at least one year of successful work experience, interest in community living, flexibility, and interest in working with adults with severe mental illness. A background check, TB test, health physical, and negative drug screen will be required.
