We continue to lift them up in prayer with the many challenges they will now face. Our disaster work continues on many fronts. Here is a report on some of our livelihood projects.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5295\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5295\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/blog\/2016\/livelihoods-empower-many\/wyeahi-groundnut-distribution\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5295\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-5295\" src=\"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/WYEAHI-groundnut-distribution-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Livelihoods are Empowering!\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5295\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Livelihoods are Empowering!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Two of our Non-Government Organizations are providing Livelihoods to those effected by the Insurgency. This is an incredible gift that<strong>\u00a0gives people a way to help themselves<\/strong>.\u00a0Businesses that have been provided include: \u00a0bean-cake making, grinding machines, peanut processing, sewing machines, knitting machines, computers, soap making, providing seeds and fertilizer as well as goats and chickens.<\/p>\n<p>These Livelihood gifts are such a blessing to those who receive them. 1000 people apply for the 200 businesses that are available. The NGO&#8217;s provide training on using the gifts as well as teaching them\u00a0how to run a business successfully. Then they follow up with the recipients to monitor\u00a0their success.<\/p>\n<p>One of our NGO&#8217;s focused on <strong>seeds and fertilizer<\/strong> during the growing season. The other NGO has built centers for the training and graduates 2-4 classes a year. Thank you\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Sincerely speaking, if not because of the farm inputs especially fertilizer, my farm will not produce enough food that can sustain my family throughout the year. I can say that God send you to salvage us from Hunger. Different styles were shown to them including what is called pencil skirts. After making\u00a0sure that the students understood it, pieces of material were given to them to practice \u00a0using the sewing machine.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5291\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5291\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/blog\/2016\/livelihoods-empower-many\/knitting\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5291\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-5291\" src=\"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/knitting-300x226.jpg\" alt=\"Knitting training at the Livelihood Center\" width=\"300\" height=\"226\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5291\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Knitting training at the Livelihood Center<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The knitting students have learned how to knit babies caps, socks and sweaters. \u00a0They can now make cardigans for sale and some of them are already in the business\t\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Praise God for the release of 21 Chibok girls.
