{"id":4137,"date":"2015-06-02T13:40:57","date_gmt":"2015-06-02T18:40:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.brethren.org\/?p=4137"},"modified":"2015-06-02T13:40:57","modified_gmt":"2015-06-02T18:40:57","slug":"though-the-fig-tree-does-not-bud-yet-i-will-rejoice-in-the-lord","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/blogtest\/2015\/06\/02\/though-the-fig-tree-does-not-bud-yet-i-will-rejoice-in-the-lord\/","title":{"rendered":"Though the fig tree does not bud&#8230;yet I will rejoice in the Lord!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<strong><span id=\"en-NIV-22786\" class=\"text Hab-3-17\">Habakkuk<\/span><span id=\"en-NIV-22786\" class=\"text Hab-3-17\"> 3:17-18<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-22786\" class=\"text Hab-3-17\">Though the fig tree does not bud<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"indent-1\"><span class=\"indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"text Hab-3-17\">and there are no grapes on the vines,<\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"text Hab-3-17\">though the olive crop fails<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"indent-1\"><span class=\"indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"text Hab-3-17\">and the fields produce no food,<\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"text Hab-3-17\">though there are no sheep in the pen<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"indent-1\"><span class=\"indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"text Hab-3-17\">and no cattle in the stalls,<\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span id=\"en-NIV-22787\" class=\"text Hab-3-18\"><sup class=\"versenum\">\u00a0<\/sup>yet I will rejoice in the <span class=\"small-caps\">Lord<\/span>,<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"indent-1\"><span class=\"indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"text Hab-3-18\">I will be joyful in God my Savior.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The tragedy that many\u00a0Nigerians have lived through would have crushed most of us but like the above passage in Habakkuk, they continue to praise their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4138\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4138\" style=\"width: 233px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/blog\/2015\/though-the-fig-tree-does-not-bud-yet-i-will-rejoice-in-the-lord\/naomi\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4138\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4138\" src=\"https:\/\/www.brethren.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Naomi-233x300.jpg\" alt=\"Naomi and her 1-year old daughter, Hope\" width=\"233\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4138\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Naomi and her 1-year old daughter, Hope<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Naomi&#8217;s story by Peggy Faw Gish<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One-year-old \u201cHope\u201d crawled around on the floor of the reception area at the EYN Headquarters Annex in Jos. \u00a0She had a quick smile and inquisitive face.\u00a0 Every time she headed toward the door to the outside steps, her mother, Naomi, got up and caught her just in time. \u00a0Many EYN staff members enjoyed playing around with Hope on their way through the room.<\/p>\n<p>Naomi had worked as a secretary to the Director of Education for EYN, at the former headquarters near Mubi. She and her daughters, Blessing (18) and Hope (1) fled on October 29, 2014, when Boko Haram attacked there, and they found their way to Jos.
